Taking our lab services on line - chapter 4

Digital photo files are big. You can't send them over the internet without a fast connection (or broadband). Fortunately DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) service was just becoming available in our town of Aiken, South Carolina.

Most providers charge higher fees for business services than they do for consumers. I try to make my dollars go farther, so I chose America On Line.

Yes, America On Line! AOL offered DSL service for $50 a month and they didn't care whether it went to my house, my business or a tree house. Of course their systems were less than 100% compatible with everything else and that caused some minor setbacks along the way - but saving $50-$100 every month is worth some minor, temporary inconvenience!
