Ideas for the photo/imaging industry March 22, 2007

  Hello

Welcome to Issue 196 of McCurry Associates' Marketing Idea Exchange. Many visitors to our special sessions at the Complete Picture Inspiration Center asked for copies of the videos we showed.

We've been working on this and the way to access them is shown in Item 1, just below.

Please send us your marketing idea as well as comments on those ideas posted by hitting your reply button or emailing to editor@mccurryassoc.com. You may offer free subscriptions to your colleagues by sending them this link: http:// photoimagenews.com/mccurry.htm - Ask them to include their name, store name and city in the body of the email - privacy is protected, see below. Please Enjoy, Consider and Profit from these ideas. All the Best, Bill

Idea 1 - Bill McCurry's Special Report is now available

For the second year, HP retained Bill McCurry to present his ideas within The Complete Picture Inspiration Center at PMA. This year Bill went cross-country interviewing “Jennifers” about their experiences with HP's Photosmart Studio.

What Bill found surprised him and may surprise you. HP’s Studio is opening doors for photo retailers way beyond the Jennifer target market. You can read Bill’s report and view portions of the interviews here

Idea #2 - Easy way to put a few more pounds into the cash box

Phil Rigby – Spectrum Imagining -Newcastle upon Tyne, UK - http://spectrumimaging.co.uk

Passport photos and ID pics are a nice little earner, but most people only want the standard 4.

We have found it incredibly easy to upsell 'an extra set' for ONLY £1.99 more. Success rate of over 50% - money for nothing, and since most id pics need to be taken within the last 6 months, - shouldn't hurt future sales either.

Just my 2 penny worth

Idea # 3 - How to build your own cabinet for heavy kiosks

Sid Davidowitz - The Picture Spa - Paramus, NJ - http://www.picturespa.com

Since so many are joining the HP Studio kiosk team I thought you would like to see what I constructed as a counter for them. If you have an Ikea near you this is a easy project. Each of those terminals weighs 70 lbs!

Editor's note:Sid was kind enough to forward a complete set of instructions for building this unit. We've posted it at http://photoimagenews.com/2unitkioskstation.pdf
